Happily Busy

I am typing this post on the MRT on my way home from Lengkee CC.

I have attended the International Speech and Table Topics. It was a great session with many entertaining and inspiring speeches. I heard the wake-up call to spend time with my family. I needed to vibrate positive thinkings, to donate for tomorrow, to have a basket of wholesome fruits. There were simply so many timely reminders to live our life to the fullest. Not to mention the great catching-up with old friends.

Another pearl of wisdom that success is a journey to a destination. To achieve great success we need to be able to learn from failures and to bounce back on our feet.

It is a great night well-spent!

Part 7- 6 Ways to Prevent Fatigue and Worry

Below are the key concepts from the book. Do read the accompanying stories which better illustrate the concepts at work.

Here we go, the six ways to prevent fatigue and worry and keep your energy and spirits high
  1. Rest before you get tired.
  2. Learn to relax at your work.
  3. Learn to relax at home.
  4. Apply these four good workings habits:
    1. Clear your desk of all papers except those relating to the immediate problem at hand.
    2. Do things in the order of their importance.
    3. When you face a problem, solve it then and there if you have the facts to make a decision.
    4. Learn to organize, deputize, and supervise.
  5. To prevent worry and fatigue, put enthusiasm into your work.
  6. Remember, no one was ever killed by lack of sleep. It is worrying about insomnia that does the damage--not the insomnia.

Words of Wisdom

I am still reading How to Stop Worrying and Start Living. As I read, I am putting in place the suggestions and am experiencing a rejuvenated me.

What Dale Carnegie shared is not something new. It reminded me of the book Think and Grow Rich. These are books which shed new meaning each time I read them again. Life experiences that I have then accumulated added depth to these words of wisdom.

Today, my key takeaway is our life is what our thoughts make it. My dear readers, do ponder on the following:

By thinking the right thoughts, you can make any job less distasteful. Your boss wants you to be ... Let's forget about what your boss wants. Think only of what getting interested in your job will do for you. Remind yourself that it may double the amount of happiness you get of life, for you spend about one half of your waking hours at work, and if you don't find happiness in your work, you may never find it anywhere.
